Meet Nate and M!

Hello RAs and SAHDs!

Here is your summer installment of meet the RHDs...read about them and their adventures before joining the Ripon College team.

"Hello friends!  My name is M Dietrich, and I am SUPER EXCITED to be coming to Ripon this summer as the new RHD for Johnson Hall!  I just graduated (woo!) from UW-Platteville with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

The first part of my summer was all about relaxing: catching up on reading, lots of story writing, cuddling with my puppy and little sisters, and trying some new recipes for my family.  I was able to fit some travel in, too, thank goodness!  I backpacked around Europe with a friend all last summer, and while I (sadly) didn't do anything nearly as extravagant this year, I did get to take my mother to Florida for six days and go with my family to New York City for a week.  I really enjoy experiencing all the diversity in the places I see and people I meet when I travel.  It’s also the perfect excuse to take a ridiculous number of pictures, something else I love to do.

I’ve worked in Residence Life as a student-staff member for three years, and am eager (and maybe a little nervous) to be taking a new role as an RHD.  I’m looking forward to meeting all of Ripon’s RA staff during training and starting a new year at a new campus!"

"Hello everyone! My name is Nate Ebert and I hope that all of you are having an awesome, relaxing, and wonderful summer! I am so excited to meet all of you and start this new school year off right! I recently graduated from Purdue University located in West Lafayette Indiana (don’t worry if you don’t know where that is. I didn’t until I moved in). I graduated with a dual major in History and Law and Society, and I was a Resident Assistant there for three years. Being a Resident Assistant has been one of the most important and fulfilling positions I have ever held, and I am so excited that I have the chance to help you give the most to your residents, while getting the most out of your position that you can.

My hobbies include, but are certainly not limited to, playing most sports you can think of, reading, playing board games, playing magic cards, playing video games, hanging out with my friends and family, and learning about new things! My favorite outfit is easily a t-shirt and athletic shorts followed by flip flops with socks on. Why? Because comfy. I am a living breathing fashion faux pas so maybe that is something you can help me learn! My summer plans include working, getting into shape, visiting my family at every chance I can, going to various concerts with my girlfriend, and fishing whenever possible. If you haven’t gotten it yet, I am so excited to get up to Ripon and meet each and every one of you! This will be a new adventure in my life, and I can’t wait to start!"

RA Training Reminders- ONE MORE TIME!!

Hello RA Friends!

M, Nate, Jill and I are working hard. So hard that we have not posted on the Student Life Facebook page, the Ripon ResLife Twitter and only ONE blog post (Nate did that! Congrats Nate!) so we decided to post something today!

Do not forget to move in! Right? We are expecting you on:
MONDAY AUGUST 11
FROM 1-5pm
If you know already you are not going to make it in that time frame and have not emailed Jessica- you are in trouble. Please do so ASAP. No one will be around to check you in if we do not know when you are coming.

On that Monday there is NO training- just moving in. You are on your own for dinner that night but starting with breakfast on Tuesday you will be fed until your meal plan starts.

Ok friends!! Hurry up, pack up, get here. We miss you and are bored to tears without you.
Love-
RHDs and Jessica

Resident Assistant website! Aww yiss

So I was snooping around and I discovered this cool website that, funny enough, has your job title right in the URL! It has great ideas for bulletin boards, ice breakers, door decs, and much much more! Give it a look and see what other RA's at different universities and colleges are up to!

Door Decoration Challenge

Hello RA Friends!

I have decided to have a Door Decoration Challenge this fall- I have cleaned off my door (gasp) and want all of you to fill it!

Who's office is this?!?!
If you are interested in participating- you just need to make a door dec and slap that bad boy on my door during training. That is it! Pretty easy eh?

I will pick a winner, post it on here and give that person the opportunity to select a prize. The items up for grabs are the following:
-Dinner at my house
-Extra money for programming
-Craft products for your next set of Door Decs
-I will vacuum your residence hall room for a week!

Get excited friends. Training is almost here. Keep your eyes open for a blog post about our newest RHDs joining the staff.

I cannot wait to see you all so soon!
Jessica
